How do I know how much to shift?

Play your video and note when the subtitle appears vs. when the dialogue starts. If subtitles are 2 seconds early, shift by +2000ms. If 1.5 seconds late, shift by -1500ms.

Can I use negative values?

Yes. Positive values delay subtitles (shift forward), negative values make them appear earlier (shift backward).

Does it work with both SRT and VTT?
